  • Training Manager

    The Training Manager will coordinate and track training for over 200 Bill Wilson Center (BWC) staff to ensure compliance with requirements from agency policy and procedures, Santa Clara County Behavioral Health, State Community Care Licensing, CA Code of Regulations and more. The Training Manager designs, implements and provides individual and group trainings; networks and collaborates with other agencies within the community to supplement the agency training offerings; and addresses emerging training needs.

Administration

  • BWC’s CEO is at the forefront of advocacy for homeless youth, racial equity and policy reform. She needs a sharp Policy Aide to assist with strategies to educate policy makers as well as provide administrative support.

  • We have an immediate opportunity for a full time Executive Assistant to support our high profile CEO, CFO and Board of Directors. Someone who will stay one step ahead of our busy CEO! This position requires an efficient, highly-motivated and skilled professional who will perform a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks that require strong attention to detail.

  • The Training Manager will coordinate and track training for over 200 Bill Wilson Center (BWC) staff to ensure compliance with requirements from agency policy and procedures, Santa Clara County Behavioral Health, State Community Care Licensing, CA Code of Regulations and more. The Training Manager designs, implements and provides individual and group trainings; networks and collaborates with other agencies within the community to supplement the agency training offerings; and addresses emerging training needs.

  • The Receptionist reports to the Director of Administrative Services and is responsible for all reception desk duties, greeting clients and visitors, performing administrative tasks, data entry, room scheduling, working with staff and volunteers and assisting with various projects at Bill Wilson Center’s Main Office.

  • Reporting to the Budget Specialist, the Payroll Accountant will be responsible for full cycle payroll processing and other general accounting duties in support of the Finance team. This part time position will work onsite up to 32 hours per week.

    Schedule: Monday – Thursday up to 8 hours per day (onsite, not remote)

Counseling Programs

  • The RELIEF Call Specialist will support the Contact Cares/Centralized Intake program by filling in shifts that need to be covered. The RELIEF Call Specialist will perform basic administrative duties, take calls when no volunteer is available and provide Centralized Intake services.


Drop-In Center Programs

  • Located downtown San Jose, Bill Wilson Center’s Drop In Center (DIC) is a one-stop location where staff provide outreach, basic needs, case management, behavioral health services, housing resources, crisis management, employment and education assistance to transition age youth (18-24). We are searching for a Program Manager to provide supportive leadership and ensure a welcoming and supportive space for homeless street youth.

  • The Substance Abuse Counselor is the coordinator of community and client services for clients of DIC and THP. This includes outpatient or residential services in areas of domestic violence, substance abuse and issues of mental health. The Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible for the assessment of need and implementation of care plans. It is usual for clients to have ongoing support needs in areas such as housing, employment, social relationships, and community participation. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work closely with other Case Managers, Peer Mentors, Residential Counselors and Program Managers to coordinate and monitor client issues. Often, the Substance Abuse Counselor works in a group environment.

  • The Education Specialist will be responsible for working directly with clients on their education plans.

Under the supervision of the Drop In Center Program Manager, the RELIEF Residential Counselors performs the following duties and responsibilities for the Drop-in Center program when covering for open shifts. The RELIEF Residential Counselors is not a full time position, but provides relief/coverage for open shifts at the Drop-in Center – hours are based on availability of open shifts.

  • Under the direct supervision of the DIC Program Manager the Case Manager provides respite clients with case management and referral services, develops a case plan to prepare for independent living and also provides oversight for Residential Counselors in developing and maintaining quality services to Respite clients and providing information to peers about clients so that everyone is on the same page. The Case Manager is also responsible for overall data entry of program statistics as well as some reporting and ensuring these are done within deadlines/timelines.


Housing Programs

  • The Program Manager supervises staff working in the housing programs for young adults and families age 18-24. These are programs for young adults preparing for permanent housing. This position requires collaboration with other BWC programs to ensure young adults receive full scope services including employment, education, housing, mental health services and independent living skills. Some of the programs include THP to Rapid Rehousing, Young Family Shelter and a Tenant Based Rental Assistance Program.

  • The Program Manager supervises Transitional Housing, LGBTQ Housing and Host Home programs by working with Case Managers and other staff in developing and maintaining quality services to homeless single and pregnant/parenting youth.

  • Under the direction of the Program Manager and working closely with program staff, the Case Manager provides case management services for young adults ages 18-25 centered primarily around strengthening independent living skills and housing permanency along with career and education development.

  • The Housing Retention Specialist is responsible processing Emergency Rental Assistance Payments to ensure clients retain or secure housing.

  • Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Case Manager is responsible assessing referrals to the program and preparing them for move in. And providing general case management around education; housing, supportive counseling and connections to needed resources and services to clients in preparation for independent living.

  • The part time Client Support Specialist for the LGBTQ Transitional Living program must have lived experience and be passionate about helping LGBTQ clients connect with appropriate services and role modeling appropriate behavior.

  • We have a wonderful opportunity for a Case Manager in our new Transition in Place Housing Program (TIP). The Case Manager provides case management services for young adults ages 18-25. Services provided center primarily around strengthening independent living skills and housing permanency along with career and education development.

  • The Housing Specialist will be responsible for locating housing for foster youth ages 18-24. The Specialist is required to work quickly and independently in the fast paced housing market in Santa Clara County in order to secure housing for youth. In addition to locating housing, you will conduct housing inspections, negotiate, and build relationships with landlords, collaborate with community partners, as well as promote BWC programs when engaging with the public.

  • The Housing Specialist will be responsible for locating housing for local college students and is required to work quickly and independently in the fast paced housing market in Santa Clara County in order to secure housing for college students. In addition to locating housing, will also conduct housing inspections, negotiate, and build relationships with landlords, collaborate with community partners, as well as be personable and informative about the BWC programs when engaging with the public.

  • The Case Manager will provide case management and supportive services for the TPV Rapid Rehousing program which secures stable housing for Foster youth between the ages of 18-24 who are eligible under the Family Unification Program.

  • Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the RELIEF Residential Counselor performs the following duties and responsibilities for the program when covering for open shifts. The RELIEF Residential Counselor is not a full time position, but provides relief/coverage for open shifts at the DIC Respite, Interim Housing and Young Adult Shelter programs (overnight and swing) – hours, if any, are based on availability of open shifts.

  • The RELIEF Residential Counselor pool provides coverage for swing and overnight shift openings in Bill Wilson Center’s Interim Housing, Homeless Respite and Young Adult Shelter programs (all located in/near downtown San Jose). The RELIEF Residential Counselor is not a full time position, but provides relief/coverage for open shifts – hours, if any, are based on availability of open shifts. Swing shift and awake overnight work is required and looking for candidates available between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m.

Mental Health Programs

  • The Clinician 2 provides culturally appropriate, accessible, and supportive Mental Health services to Medi-cal and uninsured beneficiaries. The Clinician provides assessment services, then creates and implements a client-centered, holistic care plan including individual and family therapy, skills development, and clinical case management services. Services are community-based and provided both at the office and in settings that best meet client needs such as their home, school, or community location.

    AVAILABLE POSITIONS:
    Our clinical services address the needs of various ages and populations, from children to young adults. Current openings are in the following areas:
    • School-Linked Services (Ages 5 – 21 and their families): Bilingual Spanish Required
    • Transitional Age Youth (18 – 24 years Old)

  • Under the direction of the Program Director, the Client Support Specialist will be primarily responsible to assist with linkage to resources and mental health services, and prevention outreach in both group and individual settings to Transition-Aged Youth 16-24. The Client Support Specialist will also provide direct service provision to assigned youth to support independent living skills, and referrals/ linkage to basic needs and resources.

  • Under the direction of the Director, the Intake Clinician is responsible for intake, coordination and scheduling timely access to Mental Health services for clients of all behavioral health programs. In addition to the core function of intake and referral, they will provide information visits and perform registration of new patients into electronic health record (AWARDS). The Intake Clinician holds the expertise in MediCal, Private Insurance and underfunded reimbursement and is expected to have an understanding of regulations regarding SCC Behavioral Health policies and procedures as well as BWC Mental Health policies and procedures.


Residential Programs

  • Exciting opportunity to work in a cutting edge program providing comprehensive recreational and social opportunities to youth ages 11 - 18 and their families. The Safety Net Shelter provides emergency shelter to homeless and at risk youth. The Recreational Therapist plans and provides professional, creative, and age/developmentally appropriate recreational programs and activities of therapeutic value.

  • Facilitates family reunification or alternate placement for at risk youth and their families through crisis intervention, family counseling, stabilization, parenting skills, case management and providing community linkages and resources through a strength based approach utilizing evidence based practices.

  • Bill Wilson Center is proud to partner with the County Probation Department in supporting the PIVOT (Providing Individual Valuable Opportunities Together) program to provide services for young adults coming out of detention facilities who are working hard to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

    BWC has a NEW opportunity for Residential Counselor to be the primary support person for 3-5 of these young adults, who range in age from 18-25, as they re-enter community life. The available schedule is:

    Thur, Fri 11:00 pm – 7:30 am and Tue, Wed 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm (26 hrs/wk – part time)

  • RELIEF Residential Counselors provide part time or emergency coverage in Safety Net Shelter or THPP/THP+ FC gaining experience working with youth, 11-21 yrs of age who are healing from trauma, dealing with lift stressors and working towards independent living by providing supervision, mentorship, redirection and listening skills that empower youth to heal and make healthy life choices.
